Have the license date, the car they&#8217;ll drive and their latest grades ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhifs.com\/insurance-quotes.html\">https:\/\/www.bhifs.com\/insurance-quotes.html<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are Washington&#8217;s teen license rules?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the Washington State Department of Licensing, drivers under 18:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Must complete a state-approved driver training course<\/li><li>Hold an instruction permit for at least 6 months, with 50 hours of supervised driving (10 at night), before getting an intermediate license<\/li><li>With an intermediate license, can&#8217;t carry passengers under 20 (other than immediate family) for the first 6 months, and no more than 3 for the next 6 months<\/li><li>Can&#8217;t drive between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. unless a licensed driver 25 or older is with them, with limited exceptions<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Passenger and nighttime limits can end after a year of safe driving, and other rules apply until 18. Rules can change, so check the current version before relying on this list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What should I ask about when adding a teen?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Good-student discounts.<\/strong> Many companies offer one for a B average or better. Have a report card handy.<\/li><li><strong>Driver training discounts.<\/strong> Washington already requires driver&#8217;s ed for teens under 18, and some companies give a credit for it.<\/li><li><strong>Which car they&#8217;re rated on.<\/strong> Some companies let you choose which vehicle the teen mostly drives.
